Krys Barnes has returned after suffering an ankle injury in the season opener. He was placed on injured reserve a few days later and just started practising this week.

The timing is considered to be parfect. All-Pro De'Vondre Campbell will miss this week's game against the Lions with a knee injury.

It is predicted that Quay Walker and Isaiah McDuffie will start, with Barnes and Eric Wilson as backups and special teams players.

Barnes started 23 games as an undrafted rookie in 2020. Walker's selection kept him from starting. Against the Vikings, he played nine defensive snaps.

It would have been safer to promote Travis Fulgham. Maybe that's not necessary, though.

Watson was questionable for Friday's game after practising all week. Still in concussion protocol, he travelled to Detroit with the club.

Throughout the week, Lazard's participation was quite restricted and even doubtful at times.

Not elevating Fulgham suggests one or both players will play Sunday. Saturday source said Lazard will play through pain.
